In Borneo, the third largest island in the world, you'll find the Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak. Borneo is known for its biodiverse landscape with lush rainforests housing endangered animals like orangutans, pygmy elephants and rhinos. The island’s beaches are equally famous for pristine white sands surrounded by crystal-clear waters. Borneo is a real paradise for beach and nature lovers alike.
Shangri-La Singapore
Ideally located along Orchard Road, the Shangri-La Singapore offers a haven of luxury and tranquillity in an incredible city. Wander Orchard Road and be dwarfed by towering skyscrapers and glittering shopping malls. It's one of the most famous streets in Asia renowned for high-end boutiques and endless designer stores. Alternatively, head to the famous Marina Bay to discover some architectural masterpieces such as the iconic Marina Bay Sands with one of the world’s highest rooftop infinity pools.
Gaya Island
Tucked amidst protected mangroves, sheltered coral reefs and curled around the pristine sandy coast of Malohom Bay rests Gaya Island Resort. Set on an island within a protected Marine Park, discover a sanctuary nestled in the hillside of an ancient rainforest with a stunning outline of Mount Kinabalu on the horizon. With its youthful vibe and sun-dappled moments, this beachfront resort blends harmoniously with the natural environment featuring a collection of hillside villas with views that range from mangrove forests and the surrounding canopy to the outline of Mount Kinabalu. Beyond the hotel grounds you're just a short walk from the main shopping, entertainment and dining district.
Your full board package here includes lunch at Feast Village, Pool Bar & Lounge or Tavajun Bay. In the evenings you have the choice of international cuisine at Feast Village, Omakase, surrounded by rainforest, offering three dining experiences - teppanyaki, shabu-shabu and nabe, or Fisherman's Cove for seafood themed dishes.
Day One
Depart London Heathrow on a direct flight to Singapore with Singapore Airlines.
Day Two
Arrive in Singapore where your private transfer will be waiting to take you to your hotel, the Shangri-La Singapore, located along Orchard Road. You'll stay 3 nights here, using a Tower Wing Deluxe Room with breakfast included.
Days Three to Four
Singapore has a wide variety of things to do, very close to the Shangri-La you’ll find the shopping & entertainment district of Orchard Road whilst just a little further are the botanical gardens. The Marina Bay area is well worth a visit for some incredible architectural designs such as Marina Bay Sands, one of the world’s largest luxury hotels. Perhaps you could even swing by Raffles, the home of the Singapore Sling cocktail.
Day Five
A private transfer will take you back to Singapore Airport for your onward flight across to Kota Kinabalu in Borneo. From here a driver will whisk you off to a nearby jetty to board your shared transfer boat across to Gaya Island. You’ll spend 6 nights at Gaya Island in a Bayu Villa on a Full Board basis - so breakfast, lunch and dinner are all included.
Days Six to Ten
Gaya Island is a magical place. Situated within the protected Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, you can learn about the conservation programmes offered by the resort team to preserve the beauty of their natural environment, better protect the local wildlife and raise awareness for sustainable seafood choices. Turtle Rescue, Coral Reef Restoration and Conservation Through Education are just three of the fantastic programmes currently in operation.
Day Eleven
It's time to bid farewell to this paradise island and head home. You’ll join the resort boat across to Kota Kinabalu to board your flight home with Singapore Airlines, via Singapore.

Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore is in the heart of the city just a short walk from the main shopping, entertainment and dining district and a 30-minute drive from Singapore Changi International Airport. The Botanical Gardens are a 25-minute walk away whilst Universal Studios Singapore and the Singapore Flyer are each around 20 minutes away by road.
Gaya Island (shown on the map) is located on Pulau Gaya which is the largest of a cluster of five islands that form the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, a nature marine conservation area off the coast of Borneo. The shuttle from Kota Kinabalu airport is approximately 15 minutes to the jetty and the speedboat transfer from Jesselton Point to Gaya island is another 15 minutes.
