Safari

A game drive through Amakhala Game Reserve will leave you mesmerised by its diverse vegetation and spectacular scenery; sunlit grassy savannah plains, a mosaic of bushveld plants and the spellbinding Bushman’s River are inspirational. Amakhala is home to great African mammals, birds and insects. The main draw is of course the Big 5 which can be viewed around this area. The Big 5 includes:
• Lion
• Leopard
• Rhino
• Elephant
• Buffalo

Game drives are held twice daily at Amakhala Game Reserve Bush Lodges; in the morning and in the evening so that visitors get to see different wildlife. Guests are also welcome to indulge in the sundowner canoe safaris and a cheese and wine boat cruise.

Conservation:
An Initiative of the Amakhala Game Reserve
The Amakhala Conservation Centre is largely funded by the Sindisa Foundation (a non-profit conservation organisation) and has three main objectives:
• To promote environmental awareness
• To identify and support research projects that benefit wildlife conservation in general.
• To encourage and advise on various conservation projects
Following on from the successful re-introduction of 15 species onto Amakhala, the conservation centre continues to investigate the reintroduction of other species like Cape vulture into the area.
