Hearst Castle
Travel back to the roaring 1920s by visiting the 20th-century Hearst Castle. Once home to a wealthy newspaper magnate, only celebrities and elite individuals received exclusive invitations to Hearst Castle. Today, it’s a national historic landmark and a top attraction of the California Coast. You can take tours of the castle’s upstairs, private rooms, cottages, and kitchen.
Malibu
Outside Los Angeles, you’ll find the glamorous Malibu with its celebrity homes and stretches of pristine beaches. Sip on a Malibu Rum cocktail, slather on the sunscreen and get ready to relax on stunning sandy beaches. Some of the areas best beaches include sandy Zuma Beach and Malibu Lagoon State Beach, also known as Surfrider Beach for its gnarly waves.
Redwoods National and State Park
Along California’s northern coast is Redwoods National and State Park. As the world’s tallest tree, looking up at coastal redwood trees is a truly impressive experience. Coastal redwoods can reach over 320 feet, making it near impossible to see the top. At Redwoods National and State Park, you can hike among these earthly giants or stargaze at dreamy Californian skies.
Golden Gate Bridge
As an iconic symbol of California and the USA, the Golden Gate Bridge should be at the top of any California itinerary. It’s one impressive suspension bridge. You admire it up close and personal by driving, cycling or walking across it. There are also viewpoints, on both sides of the bridge, which are perfect for capturing holiday snaps.
San Diego Zoo
Explore the iconic San Diego Zoo, housing over 3,700 animals and 650 species. This zoo was one of the first zoos to create cageless, open-air enclosures and is one of the only zoos to successfully bred the giant panda. Visit to see sun bears, elephants, jaguars, gorillas and much more.
