Tour the Gaslamp Quarter
The Gaslamp Quarter is part of San Diego's historic downtown, it is filled with Victorian architecture, as well as bijou art galleries, trendy restaurants, and chic boutiques. It's one of the most popular parts of the city for visitors and locals to gather, as they can spend the day shopping, dining, and admiring the work of local artists.
San Diego Zoo
With its vaunted international reputation, the San Diego Zoo is a must-visit attraction. It was one of the first zoos to house animals in open-air, cageless exhibits that mimic their natural habitat. Today, it’s home to over 3700 animals including elephants, grizzly bears, and the always-cute panda bears.
San Diego Zoo Safari Park
Get up close and personal to some of the animals from San Diego Zoo at its lesser known sister site. The San Diego Zoo Safari Park allows you to experience seeing animals like cheetahs, rhinos, and elephants in a more natural habitat. Feed the animals, or get a birds-eye view of the enclosures on a hot-air balloon ride.
Mission Beach
Ready to soak up the sun? Head to Mission Beach, a favourite of surfers, sunbathers, and volleyball players. Here you can swim in the Pacific Ocean or take a long tranquil walk along the beach. There’s also plenty of restaurants and cafes here for a light afternoon lunch or a refreshing drink.
Balboa Park
Balboa Park covers over 1000 acres, and is one of San Diego’s most beloved attractions. You can relax in the park’s green zones and gardens, including the 1935 cactus garden, or visit any number of its museums and theatres. It’s also home to the San Diego Zoo. Balboa Park is a fantastic place to while away an afternoon.
