Sedlec Ossuary

Only a short journey from Prague, Sedlec Ossuary is one of Europe’s best bone churches. When they purchased the monastery in 1870 the Schwarzenberg family granted a local wood carver permission to decorate using the bones in the crypt. The bones were used to make hauntingly intricate garlands, chandeliers, and even the Schwarzenberg family crest.

Prague Old Town

For a fabulous day out, catch the train from Prague to Tabor or stop en route to Cesky Krumlov. Now a sleepy village, Tabor was once the headquarters for the most radical wing of the Hussite movement. Today you can visit the museum of Hussite history, explore centuries old underground tunnels, or sip coffee in Tabor’s pretty town square.
