Palm Beach Zoo
Whether you’re travelling with children or not, Palm Beach Zoo is a great destination for a fun day trip. Run by a non-profit organisation, the zoo has a clear conservation message and houses some rare and endangered species. For little ones, there’s a play fountain and pavilion, and for parents, there’s an air-conditioned café serving wine.
Kennedy Space Center
The Kennedy Space Center is an iconic American attraction. Situated on Merritt Island, halfway between Jacksonville and Palm Beach, the Kennedy Space Center's Visitor Complex gives you an in-depth insight into the history of NASA and America’s Space Race. Marvel at former space shuttles, explore launch sites and marvel at interactive exhibits.
Henry Morrison Flagler Museum
The Whitehall mansion, which dates back to 1902, houses the fascinating Henry Morrison Flagler Museum. Situated on Palm Beach’s western waterfront, Whitehall is a perfectly preserved time capsule boasting gorgeous interiors and grounds. For the best experience, take a guided tour of the house and have lunch in the Café des Beaux-Arts located in the pavilion.
Hugh Taylor Birch State Park
If you’re staying in Fort Lauderdale, a trip to this beautiful park is a must. Hike the shaded trails, learning about the local wildlife, cycle to a scenic spot and have a picnic under a banyan tree, or hire a canoe and paddle through the lagoon. Afterwards, head to the beach on the park’s eastern border.
Shopping on Las Olas Boulevard
The Atlantic Coast is a prime spot for luxury shopping. On Las Olas Boulevard, which runs from the centre of Fort Lauderdale to the coast, you’ll find an array of high-end boutiques along with salons, restaurants and bars. Browse the racks for designer clothes and shoes, get a massage or enjoy a delicious lunch in the sun.
