Hellabrunn Zoo

Regularly named as one of the top five zoos in all of Europe, Hellabrun Zoo is an impressive attraction spanning 40-hectares. Dating back to 1911, it was the first zoo in the world to create moats and ditches to replace the use of cages. You'll also discover the Geo-Zoo, where animals are located based on their geographical regions of origin.

Oktoberfest

With around seven million guests arriving for Oktoberfest each year, this is the world's biggest beer festival! Over 7.5 million litres of beer are consumed across the 16-18 day festival, established back in 1810. Held across 14 permanent tents at Theresienwiese, each has a capacity of 8,500 people. Enjoy local beer with pretzels, bratwurst and schnitzels.

Bavarian National Museum

The Bavarian National Museum is a star cultural attraction, inaugurated by King Maximilian II in 1855. There is so much to see here, so make sure you put aside plenty of time to browse the exhibitions. With more than 40 rooms of historic gems, the collections range from weapons, armour and oil paintings, to musical instruments, furniture and sculptures.

Munich National Theatre

Home of the Bavarian State Ballet, Bavarian State Orchestra and the Bavarian State Opera, this Neoclassical National Theatre is considered one of Europe's premier opera houses. The ornate design dates back to 1825. Despite unfortunate damage during the war, it was rebuilt during the 1960s to the specifications of the architect Karl von Fischer’s original 19th-century plans.
