Overview

Explore cosmopolitan Rome and uncover a centre of European arts, culture and history like no other. Housing some of the world's finest artworks and best-preserved ancient monuments, this city is romantic, inspiring and a pleasure to stroll. You can even visit two countries in one day by taking a trip to Vatican City.

Fine dining is also a speciality of Rome with some of the best restaurants in Italy. Enjoy a slice of la dolce vita and explore iconic sights like the ornate Trevi Fountain. Wander the 138 steps of the Spanish Steps towards the beautiful Trinita dei Monti Church or take a detour and visit one of the many designer stores and local boutiques.

When To Visit

With so many treasures to explore, Rome is a year-round destination. The most popular time for luxury travellers to visit the capital is in the summer from May to September. During this period, temperatures rise well above 20 degrees Celsius, with July and August being the hottest months peaking into the 30s.

Spring and autumn are cooler and make ideal seasons to wander all of Rome's attractions. Winter months are mild with occasional rains. It's a quieter time which is perfect for exploring popular sites at a leisurely pace.

Food & Drink

Enjoy world-class gastronomy in the heart of Italy. During your luxury hotel stay in Rome, you'll taste the finest Mediterranean cuisine and international fusion dishes. And what better way to drink in city views than with a fine wine or cocktail in hand?

Rome has real foodie credentials, including Michelin-starred restaurants with panoramic views. But it does the simple stuff better, too. Kids (and indeed you) won't want to miss authentic gelato, Italy's thicker, tastier, creamier version of ice cream. And there's always Roman pizza...

Passport & Visas

As with any holiday, it's a good idea to carry some identification with you at all times and to keep a photocopy of your passport. British passport holders don't need a visa to enter Italy. Visit GOV.UK for more advice on passports, visas and travel.
