Bratislava Castle
Bratislava Castle is a must-see for anyone visiting the capital. With sweeping views over Bratislava and the River Danube, Bratislava Castle has stood guard over the city since 907. But evidence of human settlements on the site have been traced back to the Stone Ages. Today, the castle contains Slovakia’s Museum of History – educational fun for all ages.
Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra
Visit the Reduta Building to experience some of the country’s finest classical music. Since 1949, this 18th-century building has proudly been the seat of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra. The Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra plays shows throughout the year, including a special Christmas show, and tickets are often available at last minute.
River Cruises
Take a dreamy day trip up the river to Vienna (1 ¾ hours) or down the river to the ruins of Devin castle (1 ½ hours). With daily departures during summer and weekly departures during winter, river cruises are a relaxing way to travel through Slovakia's lusciously countryside. Book a late afternoon cruise to watch the sunset.
Old Town
Strolling through Bratislava’s pastel-coloured and pedestrian-friendly Old Town is a highlight of any trip. Sit in Hlavné nám (Main Square) while you experience the city’s cheerful cafe culture or catch one of the many annual festivals that happen here. On the northeast side of the square, you’ll find the 14th century Old Town Hall and Municipal Museum.
Primate Palace
Located in the heart of the Old Town, the Primate Palace is one of Slovakia’s most beautiful Neoclassicism buildings. It was built in the late 18th-century for Archbishop József Batthyány and today serves as the seat for Bratislava’s mayor. You can visit the beautiful Hall of Mirrors as well as view a rare collection of 17th century English tapestries.
