Pixie Lott, Oliver Cheshire, and their son Albert recently swapped the UK for island bliss on a tailor-made trip to Mauritius. From secret coves to family-friendly fun and sunset dinners, this was a holiday of sandy toes, spontaneous laughter, and well-earned downtime.
Here, they fill us in on their favourite moments, packing hacks, and the little surprises that turned this trip into something truly special.
1. You both must have travelled to some incredible places with your careers. What made Mauritius the perfect destination for this trip?
Mauritius has that rare, irresistible blend of natural beauty, pristine beaches, and luxurious resorts – the perfect balance of indulgence and family-friendly charm. We wanted somewhere that would feel special, where we could truly unwind but also have fun with Albert, and Mauritius really delivered on all counts.
2. How did Destinology make the planning effortless for you?
Destinology handled every little detail with such care – from choosing the perfect hotels to making sure transfers were smooth and stress-free. They completely understood what we needed as a family and tailored everything beautifully. It made the whole experience incredibly easy and enjoyable from the very start.
3. With Albert joining the adventure, what are your must-haves for a smooth journey?
Travelling with Albert means we’re always well-stocked with the essentials – plenty of snacks, his favourite toys, and a plan that includes time to relax and recharge. We look for places that are genuinely family-friendly, with space to play and enough flexibility in the itinerary to keep things easy and enjoyable.
4. Who’s the most organised when it comes to packing – Pixie or Oliver?
I’d say Pixie is definitely more organised. She’s got everything prepped and packed with time to spare, whereas I’m a bit more last-minute. But it actually works well – between the two of us, we manage to cover all bases and never forget a thing.
5. Stepping into The Westin Turtle Bay Resort & Spa, what was your first thought?
Our first impressions were genuinely, “Wow, this is paradise”. The lush greenery, the quiet sands of the golden beach, and - perhaps best of all - the warm welcome made us feel like we had stepped into a tropical oasis.
6. What was the highlight of your stay at The Westin Turtle Bay Resort & Spa? Your room, the restaurants, the beach?
The beach was absolutely the standout of The Westin Turtle Bay Resort & Spa – especially those incredible sunsets. Our room was gorgeous, and the food was top-notch with so much variety, but there’s just something unforgettable about sitting on the beach and watching the sun dip below the Indian Ocean. It was magical.
7. What did you think of Le Meridien Ile Maurice? Did it have a similar feel to The Westin, or was it totally different?
Le Meridien Ile Maurice had a completely different energy – a more vibrant, lively feel that brought a lovely contrast to our time at The Westin. It was stylish and full of character, with a fantastic beach and brilliant dining. Each hotel had its own personality, and that’s what made the combination so great.
8. How did the two hotels compare? Did you have favourite elements of each, and could you possibly pick a favourite?
It’s tough to choose a favourite because both hotels were special in their own way. The Westin offered that peaceful, laid-back atmosphere – perfect for proper holiday downtime – while Le Meridien was full of buzz and fun. We appreciated both for different reasons and genuinely loved what each brought to the trip.
9. What’s been Albert’s favourite part of the holiday?
The beach, without a doubt! Watching him play in the sand, laughing as he splashed in the shallow waves – it was just pure happiness. Those little moments became some of the most meaningful for us.
10. If you had to pick one hotel for families, which would you recommend and why?
We’d definitely recommend The Westin Turtle Bay Resort & Spa for families. It’s got such a calm and nurturing atmosphere with plenty of space and thoughtful facilities for children. Everything felt so effortless and welcoming, which really does make all the difference when travelling with little ones.
11. Have you discovered a hidden gem or an experience you’d love to revisit?
Yes – we stumbled across this secluded little cove not far from the resort. The water was crystal-clear, and it felt like our own private hideaway. It was one of those special places you want to keep going back to.
12. From beach days to infinity pools, where did you find yourselves spending the most time?
Definitely the beach. There’s just something so grounding about being by the sea – warm sand underfoot, waves rolling in, and Albert beside us. Travelling as a couple is wonderful, but adding your child into the picture brings a whole new depth to the experience.
13. With Mauritius being a melting pot of cultures, the food is amazing. What was the most memorable meal of your stay?
We had this unforgettable seafood feast right on the beach – the freshest fish, bold spices, and incredible flavours, all while watching the ocean. It was one of those meals where the setting made it even more special.
14. Did you try a local dish that surprised you?
Yes, we tried a traditional Mauritian dish called “Dholl Puri”. It’s like a flatbread filled with yellow split peas and served with curries. It was such a comforting and delicious surprise – a real taste of the island’s culinary soul.
15. What’s been the standout moment where you truly felt the VIP touch from Destinology?
The standout moment was when they surprised us with a private beach dinner. It was such a magical experience, and it made us feel incredibly special.
