National Gallery of Modern Art
Dedicated to modern and contemporary artworks, this museum houses the largest collection of modern art in Italy and displays over 1,000 paintings and sculptures from the 19th and 20th centuries. Admire artworks from the major Italian artists of the era and from international masters like Duchamp, Goya, Kandinsky, Klimt, Monet, Pollock, Rodin and Van Gogh.
Vatican City
Visit two countries in one luxury city break with a trip to the world's smallest country, the Vatican City. Home to some of the world's most important artworks and artefacts, the Vatican is a treat for the eyes. Wander the Sistine Chapel, marvel at the famed frescoes of Michelangelo, then stroll the awe-inspiring halls of Saint Peter's Basilica.
The Colosseum
The iconic symbol of Rome, the Colosseum is the largest amphitheatre in the world, holding over 50,000 spectators. This shining monument began construction in 72 AD and when completed was used to host gladiatorial contests, animal hunts and dramas. Journey back in time and tour the magnificent structure. Visit both day and night for some truly memorable photographs.
The Pantheon
Another iconic landmark in Rome, and one of the best preserved ancient Roman buildings, the Pantheon was built by Emperor Hadrian around 126 AD on the site of an earlier temple. Today, the building is a working church, which is testament to the classical architecture. Pass through the giant pillars and bronze doors, and gaze at the magnificent domed roof.
Roman Forum
These sprawling ruins were once the centrepiece of ancient Rome. With imposing temples and government buildings, the Roman Forum was the very heart of the city and of the Roman Empire. This area is filled with landmark sights with towering columns, rich archaeological finds and the Curia – the meeting place of the Roman Senate. Truly a must-see attraction.
